I’m not into diets, at least not fashionable ones. Having been brought up from an early age to appreciate balanced meals comprising meat-and-two-veg, fruit, dairy products and so on might have had something to do with it. In any case, the high-protein diet, the fruit diet, the – lessee – South Beach diet, Dukan diet all look more like guessology and bookselling ploys than genuine long-term dietary and lifestyle advice. Don’t ask me what’s in them, they’re practically all fads with serious flaws. I only know of one diet that works. We’ll come to it later.
The latest one appears to be another starry-eyed hippy special: the so-called Caveman diet, as described here Paleo 101 | Paleo Diet Lifestyle. It’s just one, there appear to be dozens of websites promoting this diet. Probably nearly all with their own recipe book and/or supplements shop. I’m too jaded to investigate properly, but I’d place a bet on it.
